MEC Manchester's Wavemaker start-up hub claims two more winners

Published by

MEC Manchester announced this week that Never No and Flow XO have won the opportunity to work within its new MEC Wavemaker start-up hub, following a competition held at the search, analytics and social conference SASCON last week. The two start-ups won following a pitch process overseen by MEC Manchester’s Managing Director Mick Style, Community Editor at Tech North Martin Bryant and UK Fast’s Jonathan Bowers. The companies will be given free office space as well as the opportunity of commercial partnerships with MEC Manchester’s clients. The agency is also providing them with advice on how to develop and grow. The start-ups will spend 3 months in MEC Manchester’s office from the 4th July and it will be during these 3 months that the agency will aim to secure commercial partnerships between these entrepreneurial companies and their client base.

Never No is a company that powers social TV, digital and social advertising for global networks. Their flagship “STORY” platform provides broadcasters and advertising agencies with the tools for engaging with the audience socially, taking real-time engagement data and delivering it into live screen graphics or rendering video content at scale for traditional TV advertising or digital video campaigns. Flow XO, meanwhile, is a company that builds powerful internet bots without code. The company then makes those bots work seamlessly across numerous platforms, and hosts, manages and scales them for clients.

We are thrilled to welcome Flow.xo and Never No into MEC and are looking forward to bringing their technology to our clients as well as using our expertise to help them scale and mature” MEC Manchester MD, Mick Style

MEC Manchester has been working with Tech North to discover the best tech talent in Manchester and the surrounding area. Six companies with a focus on content, creativity and data were selected to pitch to the judges at the SASCON event. The judges picked Flow XO due to the increasing impact and importance bots and AI will have on communications, e-commerce and creativity, and Never.no for its seamless ability to integrate UGC into adverts allowing brand messages to be more personal and engaging.

The winners said: “We’re delighted at this opportunity to work with a leading global media agency and look forward to executing campaigns with their roster of clients. By committing to work with us and embracing a major technology trend (AI and bots) MEC is proving its commitment to future technology and the future of media consumption through messaging.”
